I don’t know what inspired me : linux or “the march of the penguins” ?…
Unluckyly, the carnival day was very sunny.
With this pattern you can make it whenever it’s for a child or an adult.

For my mom’s birthday.
The hardest was to obtain a recent picture of everyone.
I went into a photocopy shop to print it onto a A2 paper (16.5″x23.6″).
I used an architecture software, I wish I knew Photoshop…
My parent’s house has also shed dormers, but not so much windows !
Again almond paste.
The dragon is drawn with melt chocolate (very useful to keep the Vahiné frosting pen when it’s finished : cut the bottom, clean it and use it with your own frosting).
For the drawing tuto click HERE.
Some chocolate powder spread with finger to highlight the dragon.
The little story of this cake : we ate it and then I realized I didn’t take a picture of it !!
My son was delighted, few days after I made another one and I didn’t forget the picture…
For the 10th birthday of my daughter.
It looks like a film strip. Made with plexi, black and white adhesive vynils.
A quick glance to 10 years in a blink of an eye… (yes I know, there’s not the 10th picture, what does it mean Mr Psychologist ?).
The picture is very bad. I can’t find a better one.
The year I discovered liquid food coloring.
I had fun making coloured powder sugar. I use it to stripe the heart-shaped cake.
With the rest of the colored sugar it was funny to eat psychedelic yoghurts.
Nothing difficult but it’s my son’s favorite animal.
The cake remained small but the children weren’t many.
I used a twisted font to make it illegible.
Despite, kids succeeded without a mirror.
I think that was more difficult for their parent…
For kids born at the end of the year : I had a cutted phone book for 6 months !
I was caught at my own game, the children didn’t understand why the birthday cake was on the table.
It had not disappeared?
(The agency is hiring new detectives.
Come on saturday the 21th for a mystery : Yves birthday cake disappearance)
At this moment I realized that pieces of a soccer ball are not so simple (especially in flat).
The finishes are far from being perfect, I had to be in a hurry that day.
The year before, I made a ghost costume for my son.
I’ve kept the body on which I sew the rainbow colors.
The mask is a piece of cardboard on which I sew grey felt.
The advantage of decorating a cake with almond paste is that children who don’t like the taste can take it off .
They like pecking sugar balls or smarties (which help to cut the cake in equal shares).
I loved the pastel sugar confettis.
Almond paste and some smarties.
A piece of cardboard, 4 tube balloons, 1 classic balloon.
After her birthday party, my daughter kept it one month in her room.
The first one of a (very ) long run of decorated cakes with almond paste.
In that time I found moldings alphabet and numbers in chocolate (I wish I kept those molds).
