FAQ

Measure your book sheets height, subtract the pattern heigh and divide the result by 2. Add this result to all marks. Count your book number of sheets, subtract the pattern number of sheets and divide the result by 2. The result tells you on which sheet you should start your folding.

  9. Thank you very much for letting me use your cat pattern,I havn’t done any bookfolding before and I love cats

    • Your French is very good but you can read my website in (my bad) English by clicking on the Union Jack in the right sidebar ;-)

  10. Thank you for the book folding pattern, I have always wanted to try this art and I adore cats so that’s why I thought it a good place to start.
Please can you help me, I have started the cat and I am finding that the top small folds are showing and can be seen from the previous worked pages is there a solution for this? Thank you

      • Thank you for your reply. My book is 21cm
The ears were a problem and also the bottom which has a turning of 19.65 which takes it very close to the edge. Nevertheless I have continued and it looks ok but not as clean cut as in the photograph, but I am enjoying doing it, maybe you have some tips?

        • Sonia has made a big size shape on her book. I admit it’s not easy to make a fold as close to the edge.
For few sheets like the ear, I don’t fold as far as the vanishing point. Send me a pic of your cat, I will publish it in the “visitor album” ;-)

          • Hi there,
I have made the cat again and it is much improved.
I noticed that whilst my book is 21 cm the pages are only 20cm which probably added to the difficulties. I shall send a pic soon, 2nd attempt is much more recognisable. so when complete I shall send you a picture.
Thank you so much for your help

  11. Hi
I had started to fold your cat pattern but was wondering how to fold the lower marks when they are 19.35′ 19.75 etc when the book is only 20cm tall. Seems impossible.
Hope you have an explanation that will help me , Thankyou.

    • I didn’t fold that book. Do you use a pin to mark the paper before folding? It can be very useful for small folds.
As it’s at the bottom of the cat, you can also decrease the vanishing point.
      Hope this will help you…

  12. I wanted to make something similar for my mom do you do any other free paterns of cats please as it will nothe be sold it will stay in the house hold it is made in

  13. Så söt. Tack för att jag fått ta del av mönstret. =)
(So cute. Thank you for inviting me to take part of the pattern)

  14. thanks for sharing.
I think there is an error on Line 131. the Upper mark shows it is below the lower mark.

      • Now that I have finished the folds, it looks like maybe a simple typo. The upper fold on line 131 looks like it should be 3,9 rather than 13,9.
It is very difficult to see the folds in the photo to see if it matches.
I also refolded line 130 at 8,0 and 8,65 to end the tail better.
Mine came out great! I folded the cat using a copy of “Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover’s Soul.”

        • I finally found where was the error : it’s mine :-?
The marks error was detected and I changed the PDF for the french post… but not for the english one.
Now it’s done, the pattern is correct!

  15. I have a mountain of books from my father and these patterns are perfect to use them for something beautiful and get back to making gifts instead of buying all the time

  16. Hi!
I found your website via another site where you wrote that all of your patterns were free to use. Is that correct?
Can I post my books that use your pattern on my instagram papercraftideas. Of course I will link to you.
    Best, (Sweden)

    • I share the patterns on my website for free. But you are not allowed to publish and sell them or sell books made with those patterns.
Of course you can post books photo on your instagram, and a link to my website would be very much appreciated… ;-)

    • Why do you want to tear of some sheets?
If you have more sheets than the pattern you have to read the F.A.Q. at the end of the post (“How do I adapt the pattern to my book”).
The sheets are folded but the book should stay intact…

  17. I just downloaded the pattern for the cat (thankyou sooooo much for sharing)
I have a question though, the book I am using has 23cm sheets, so to have the cat sat at the bottom, do I add 4cm to the upper mark measurement ? and to have it dead centre, 2cm to the upper mark and leave the lower mark as it is?
This is the first time I am attempting to follow a pattern, I have previously done a heart but did that by drawing the shape on the book end and following the pencil marks.
    Thankyou in anticipation :)

    • Did you read the F.A.Q. ?
To center the cat : add 2cm to all marks.
The cat sat at the bottom : add 4 cm to all marks.
If you forgot to change the lower marks, your cat will be “crashed”.

      • Morning,
No I didn’t read them sorry, I will check there though next time before asking any questions :)
        Thankyou for your help
